Yesterday I shared a couple day to night summer outfit ideas as a part of my #DestinationSummer road trip with Kohl’s. Today, we’re going to talk about some of my summer wardrobe and beauty must haves. Here in Tampa, our summer weather can be downright brutal, so there are certain pieces and products that I find myself turning to time and time again when the temps start to spike.
Number one on my list is a maxi dress. I rock maxis more than anything else in the summertime. They’re cool…they’re comfy…and if you asked me if I have a signature look, a maxi would probably be a part of it. I picked up a couple of summer perfect maxis at Kohl’s and wear them to some of my favorite spots recently.
A navy LC Lauren Conrad number was perfect for a jaunt to Rocky Point in Tampa. It’s a little patch of beach right on Tampa that’s a wonderful place to watch the sun set. Have you ever seen a Florida sunset? They can’t be rivaled in this Florida girl’s opinion. Speaking of sunsets, I rocked a Peter Som splatter print maxi for a walk along Bayshore Boulevard…Also, an excellent sunset viewing spot. And it also happens to be the longest continuous sidewalk in the world making it a runner’s dream.
As far as my go-to summer beauty products go, I keep makeup to a minimum as the heat tends to melt it right off, but there are a few products that are always a part of my summer beauty routine. Tinted moisturizer with an SPF is a must. It provides sheer coverage and protection at the same time. Along that same vein is BB cream. I found Jane’s version at Kohl’s and was able to match it to my skin perfectly. This multi-tasker primes, covers, hydrates AND reduces redness. Score! And once my skin is moisturized, primed and ready I love to add a touch of bronzer or blush that leaves a sun kissed glow. Cargo’s powder beach blush has both bronzer and blush in one compact container…Swirl them together for a subtle summery look!
I also always have to have a balm. I love a good lip gloss with the slightest hint of shimmer and flaky lips and shimmer simply don’t mix. So, I exfoliate and moisturize my lips regularly, just like I do with my skin. And finally, my summer beauty look wouldn’t be complet without a bright polish. Essie makes so many gorgeous coral hues. Let’s just say I have more than one!
Now that you’ve seen my must haves, head on over to the #DestinationSummer board and check out what my road trips comrades from all over the country have been pinning! And next up, in the lineup is Erin Loechner of Design For Mankind!
