Last weekend I decided to have an impromptu photo shoot for Valentine’s Day with Jake. It had been a few months since we had taken some nice new photos and the timing was perfect. Wanting a sweet, classic feel the little man’s wardrobe included a Carter’s red tie onesie, Levi’s, a Janie & Jack cap that was so cute it HAD to be photographed, and an adorable handmade sweater lent from a friend. Next it was all about the props. To really make the photos feel special I ordered a dozen red and pink balloons and I must say it was $12 well spent! The balloons not only made the Valentine’s Day pictures pop, they kept Jake smiling and interested throughout the shoot.
A side street in downtown Annapolis provided a nice brick and picket fence backdrop. It was totally worth the spectacle we made!
After spending the equivalent of a small fortune at Christmas for having photos taken, grabbing the camera and a dozen balloons on a crisp day provided Valentine’s Day photos that I think are the equivalent if not surpass them at just the cost of the balloons. What do you think? Have you ever used fun props to make your pictures feel more special?

Such sweet photos!! I have been taking a TON of photos of my daughter since she was born and I have absolutely used props etc to make them more interesting. Isn’t it great when you are able to achieve a look all by yourself?

@Alexis Grace, Totally, and it makes it easier to keep taking pictures and buying props when they aren’t costing a ton!
