Ok, so we didn’t actually buy the whole stinkin’ zoo. But we had so much fun that saying “we went to the zoo!” just doesn’t have the same ring. Last week, the fam headed down to Florida to celebrate Christmas, hang with grandparents and, of course, attend Jessica’s fab wedding. The only problem is that Jake is definitely at the point of wanting to run, not walk, around for hours on end. Knowing we needed to wear the little guy out we decided to go to the Central Florida Zoo. It’s only about 20 minutes from my Mom’s house and while it doesn’t get nearly the same play as all of the other Orlando attractions, it meant that he would have a little more room to roam without me having panic attacks among throngs of tourists. A win-win.
This alligator may be a common site in Florida, but up close is still pretty cool.
Jake as a “Big Cat!”
This camel was so friendly I think if allowed, he would have offered us a ride. I am also loving that random guy’s expression. Zoo guy is not impressed, ha!
An ostrich is getting a little too friendly for my taste.
I absolutely adore this photo of Jake and my Mom. Nothing like fresh air and lots of space to make this smile happen.
Did I mention this zoo also had a pint sized train? Us grown-ups managed to squeeze ourselves in, but clearly Jake was the one enthralled! And don’t worry, once we got moving I was seated firmly next to him.
So, that was our post holiday family day. Did you guys do anything random over the holidays? Did anyone just need to get those crazy relatives out of the house?

What fun–the train shots are fantastic. There is a similar train at a local park here, but it is definitely seasonal. It would be called the polar express if it ran now.
