Does anyone out there remember the movies Hot Shots! and Hot Shots! Part Duex? When I was writing the title for this post those terrible movies popped into my mind and I had to giggle. I remember watching them in junior high thinking they were hilarious. Ahhhh the tastes of a kid in junior high…
I digress…back to the rest of our vacation in North Carolina. We had a great time as the weather really became a little clearer and warmer and we were able to get out and about. One stop was Blowing Rock. This rock has a story about two Native American lovers who were going to be separated by a civil war. The man jumped off into the gorge and the distraught woman prayed for him to be sent to her, which he was in a gust of wind. Those old tales are filled with such drama! Ha!
The next day we drove to the infamous Vanderbilt Biltmore Estate. It was beyond gorgeous and we spent the entire day enjoying the property.
The side porch boasts these awesome trees that provide a literal canopy above your head. I am kinda obsessed, think I could grow those at home? Something tells me no…
This autumn garden was divine. Who wouldn’t want to grab a blanket and bottle of wine here?!
After a day at the Biltmore, we wrapped up our week with one final hike to Linville Falls. It was a beautiful day which made it hard to leave.
It was about a two mile hike round trip so we figured it was just enough for Jake to handle riding along in the Stokke MyCarrier Backpack without a food break. I did a little of the Jake toting, but it was really Uncle Grant who carried the kiddo, making him laugh along the way.
In all it was such a nice relaxing trip. I love Summer vacations but taking a break during Fall is equally appealing. I think this trip might just need a redo next year! And my other blogging half is headed on her own mountain get away. I think there is something in the crisp fall air!
Disclosure: I was provided with the baby carrier, but the opinions expressed are my own.

How fun! I grew up right down the road from Linville Falls. My parents own a dairy farm right down 221.

My husband and I love Biltmore. We are planning on heading up there again for the Holidays with the kids. You have a gorgeous family, btw.

Such a beautiful area. We went to the Biltmore on our last visit to Asheville and it was amazing. Your pictures helped me relive it. Thanks!
