Last weekend I was so excited to take Jake to our local Westfield Mall in Annapolis for KidFest, a totally free day for kids that featured the characters from LazyTown along with several other family friendly activities. Even at just 9 months he was totally enthralled with the event and we, along with my friend’s family, had a wonderful time! While Jake is still a little young to really understand cartoons, he had no problem fitting right in and making himself pretty comfy with Sportacus, the main LazyTown character who promotes exercise and healthy eating. Maybe it’s the mustache or that awesome superhero badge, but I’m pretty sure he would have been willing to lunge himself right off of me for a chance to chill with Sportacus.
After hanging backstage with the characters, we were in for a treat. The LazyTown characters were putting on a 15 minute concert (truly the perfect amount of time given the attention span of little ones) and we got a front row seat. The show featured exercising and dance moves and he even brought up several kids to do jumping jacks and push-ups with him. And yes, I might have been even more impressed with the stunts than Jake!
In addition to the show, there were several other activities including face painting, a photo booth and crafts.
I think Jake and I make a dashing “pear” don’t you?! Sorry, I can’t resist a cornball joke!
Again with the touching and I’m nowhere in sight! Something tells me he is going to have no issue with a certain Mr. Claus. We had a great day at the event and I am continually impressed by our Westfield’s family friendly activities and events. It really makes going to the mall together a true joy!
In addition to the show, I also tested out the Westfield App v2.0 while there. Ummm, have you guys ever tried it? It’s really amazing and I’m now totally hooked! It’s free to download and boasts some pretty cool features including in-mall navigation, product search, retail offers (aka SALES!), voice command, movie ticket purchase and more. Truth be told, the Annapolis mall is pretty darn huge and so my favorite feature is the in-mall navigation. It figures out where you are and will guide you to your destination turn by turn. Perfect for someone who may be dragging a fussy kiddo with her!
