Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending the watermelon themed first birthday party for the daughter of my uber creative and DIY talented friend Lauren. It was definitely a soiree fit for a little princess! Lauren’s attention to detail was truly inspiring…especially for those of us who aspire to get better at the whole DIY thing!
Remember the darling newborn photos of the little lady bean that I shared? Well, our lovely photographer, Corey from Best Part Photography, was also at the party and she shared some of the gorgeous shots that she took. Lucky us!
From left to right:
- Lauren ordered the delicious cake and cupcakes from local gourmet deli and bakery Wright’s.
- The sweet little cupcake signs are from Etsy shop Tiger Lily Invitations.
- She made the bunting using a triangle template that she printed off the internet.
- She stuffed the kiddos’ favor bags with watermelon coloring books, stickers and lollipops from Oriental Trading Company.
From left to right:
- Lauren and our friend Nicole made the party hats using scrapbooking paper.
- She found the charming striped straws at Etsy shop DK Delektables.
- She got the idea for the sprinkle trimmed mason jars from Simply Divine Events. To do: Paint a small amount of honey around the top of the glasses and then dip them in sprinkles. Have straws available in case your guests don’t want to taste sprinkles with every sip of their drink…This girl would though. Just sayin’!
Hugs and thanks to Lauren for sharing her fabulous party with us!

Oh awesome! I helped my sister plan my nephew’s dino birthday party and we definitely looked to Pinterest for a lot of DIY/crafting ideas for the event.

What a great idea for a birthday party!
That sprinkle cup idea would be great for an adult party – trade the mason jar for a martini glass and you’re good to go

Very creative; especially the mason jars with sprinkles. My young daughter loves stuff like this.
