A Swimsuit Worthy of its Price Tag

Thursday, May 10, 2012

You mamas know that the few months following the birth of your precious wee ones can be a bit traumatic when it comes to accepting your figure. Things take a while to go back to “normal” even if you’re faithfully exercising. So, buying a swimsuit isn’t exactly high on my list if you know what I’m saying. I do, however, live in Florida and my little dude loves the water, so I can’t just refuse to put one on. Finding one that I’ll feel comfortable in is going to be no easy feat I’m sure.

Happily, this beautiful striped maillot from Anthropologie caught my eye. It’s so pretty, the thought of putting it on doesn’t feel me with AS much dread as say, a bikini. Haha! Priced at $158.00, it’s not exactly inexpensive, but it just may be worth the splurge! Do y’all invest in swimsuits or are you bargain hunters when it comes to swimwear?

I try my best to find a happy medium; I may only wear my bathing suit a handful of times during the year, so I don’t want to pour a lot of money into one. That being said, I try to find one that is made well enough to last a few years so I’m not shopping for a new bathing suit every year!

Even though I’ve never had a baby, I am an AVID one piece swim suit type of gal. AVID.

I don’t find $158 that expensive to spend on a swimsuit if it really does flatter your body type. For some reason though, one-piece bathing suits aren’t really flattering on me. They make me look fat (which is the opposite of what it’s supposed to do). Weird :)

I definitely invest in my swimsuits – I can’t bargain hunt because the best prices are attached to string bikinis, and I’m a bit top-heavy and too self conscious to dare. This one is so cute that you’ve tempted me to go to Anthropologie after work today to see what else they have! :)

total cheapskate when it comes to bathing suits. I buy Old Navy and Target and then toss them at the end of the season.
Years ago I purchased an oober expensive Vix swimsuit for my honeymoon and it wore the same way my Old Navy’s and Target’s did…had to toss, so decided to be a cheapy from here on out, lol.
The suit above is darling though…understand why you are smitten.

I paid the most I’ve ever paid for a swimsuit this year because we were going on the cruise & I needed one & not very many places had them out yet. I paid $125 at Dillard’s. I normally can find cute ones at JCPenney & they’re MUCH cheaper. This one is super cute!

I do both-I splurged on the tops but then buy cheaper bottoms. I think it’s important to have a suit that is flattering and well made. You don’t want to buy a new one every summer!

When I was in college I owned a million swimsuits (guess that is a FL thing!). However after moving to LA, I tried to focus more on quality over quantity.
