DIY Country Living Style

My friend Cait recently gave me a stack of pure gold.  Ok, not really.  But she did give me a giant stack of “gently used” magazines, which is the equivalent of gold in my book!  In the stack were two recent issues of Country Living.  I literally have never read this magazine and generally wouldn’t consider myself a country kind of girl.  Yet I loved them both and was drawn to several great articles, tips, recipes, etc.  I guess they brought out my inner country side.

In one of the issues they had several easy DIY projects for which I am always a sucker for.  These home made ribbon bookmarks immediately caught my eye.  I would love to make these and give them with a classic novel at the holidays.

Pillow cases made of used button down shirts are also fun and look pretty easy to make.  I love how the different shades of blue all complement each other and the buttons are so cute.

So there you have it.  I guess I am a Country Living girl after all!  What do you think?  Are these DIY projects you think you could tackle?

My husband bought me a subscription to US Country Living last year and I have loved these kind of projects in the magazine since getting it. Those bookmarks were so simple yet so beautiful.

Agreed. I don’t consider myself a Country girl either, but I love that magazine. I’ve always considered them Southern Shabby Chic. I love those DIY bookmarks. I’ve seen similar ideas like those a lot lately. Fun project!

I love Country Living (I’m a subscriber)…and I am so far off from being a country girl (I’m a city girl), but I love the cottage looks. I’ve always picked up a lot of ideas from CL. Lots of inspiring looks (especially if you’re very feminine).

LOVE the button-down shirt idea! They’d look so cute in a boy’s bedroom or nursery, too.

Ah, the closest I get to a country magazine is Town & Country, haha! But I do agree that those button-down pillows are cute!

@Grace, Oh I have a serious Town and Country problem. I’ve been a subscriber for years!
