Thanks to the gorgeous Kristy from Full Time Fabulous, I am participating in an event today called ‘Contra Unus.’ We, the participants, were to share where we’re from and what our location in the world means to us through a visual representation. This tropical floral frock that practically explodes with vibrant colors instantly spoke to the Florida girl in me!
Although I was born in Ohio, I’ve lived in Florida on and off since I was ten. I’ve called other cities, like D.C. and Houston my home, but no place makes me feel quite like Florida does. The instant I see the swaying palm trees and feel the balmy air on my skin, I’m at ease! And nothing beats a Florida sunset!
Florida is where I met my best friend and now business partner. Florida is where I fell in love with my soulmate. Florida is where I became a mama. No matter where life takes me, I will ALWAYS be a Florida girl at heart! What does your hometown mean to you lovelies?

I am from Portland, OR and, while I lived in California for awhile, Portland is where I live now and will always be home to me. To me, Portland is a place of acceptance and living a free life. It is a place of celebrating natural beauty while still respecting urban design. It is humble, caring, RAINY, eccentric, friendly, thrifty, real. While I have no doubt I will live elsewhere in my life – there will never be another Portland for me.

See… that’s Horse Country, VA for me, whether it’s Fauquier or Albemarle. Those are the only two places I’ve felt were home, although OBX is getting close! I love the rolling hills, white (or black, or natural) board fences…

Very summer/ Florida indeed! Love the sunsets there too- and some pretty cities/scenery too, on our part of Florida I’d say it’d be the Skyway bridge!

I LOVE that dress, makes me excited for summer (also makes me a bit jealous that you can wear clothes like that outside already)! I grew up in the beautiful village of Greendale, WI. When Tony and I decided to buy a house I knew there was no other place I would want to eventually raise a family.

I was also born in Ohio, but moved to Florida when I was four. I didn’t realize I was a through-and-through Florida girl until I moved away when I was almost 30, to Seattle. After a few years, I realized how homesick I was, but it took over 20 years to get back. I can truly say I love Florida and there’s no place like home.

Your outfit totally represents Florida! Being from SoCal, I think we have the same adoration for our regions. Sand, laid back summers, and fun in the sun

I grew up in Wyoming so I will always be a country girl at heart. Though I am a fashionista, a city girl and a shopaholic there will always be a little country in me. I live in Oregon now and I love it here. Though some days I miss the wide open spaces and quietness. I will always call Wyoming my home!
Come check out my post as well!

I was born in Ohio, too! I love the look- that’s one of the dresses from the Target Designer Collaboration, right? My hometown is pretty small and a bit rundown, but it means a lot to me because it’s filled with amazing people who work hard, help each other, and teach you how to be a genuinely good person! I’m proud to be from there and think I appreciate my life much more coming from a place were people didn’t have much.

That dress looks great on you!

I’m from the midwest, so I guess I’d represent that with jeans and a tee shirt!

You are definitely exuding Florida sunshine in these photos!

Love the dress! Well, I’m originally from Chicago and it very much reminds of the “Big City Life” and I do miss it. I do, however, love living in Tempe, Arizona but, I’d much rather be by the beach. So, Tempe to me means sun, sun, and more sun. Most importantly, I have family here and where I met the love of my life (6 years this July) and I do love our wonderful weather and the scenery. Family moved out here from Chicago — a good number of his now live in Arizona however, we’ve got stragglers back home. Great post.
[Reply]
What a sweet post, Kristin, and you look amazing. I’m definitely feeling the Florida vibes from that dress (and I love your shoes!). I can definitely relate to living in a lot of different places. I haven’t found that one to call home yet, but someday!
[Reply]
Your dress…gorgeous! I love the colors, and it makes me long for warmer weather over here.
I’ve lived in WI my whole life, and I love it. I know there are so many negative jokes about it, but it really does have some great places

I was born in Slovakia, but have been living in Paris for nearly 4 years, and I really feel more and more Parisian as the time goes by. I like to channel this effortless Parisian style, with flowy dresses, striped -shirts and all sorts of hats.

No real hometown as I moved overseas at 2. However, we moved to London. My mother was a Brit and all of her family, including my GM, lived nearby. The UK and Europe is where I spent most of my childhood. Now, whenever I enter London (not as frequently as I would like since I live in US), I am home.

What a gorgeous beach! I wish I had the same feelings for where I grew up:) But mine is more, lake mountains and … cows? Haha!

HI, first time here and I found you via the fabulous blogging event of ftf. It is my second day where i am the virtual tourist that brings me all over the world from Greece to Thailand and now Florida USA! Like everybody else I love your dress, but most of all the way you talk about what your city means to you. It comes from the heart and that is always the best place to be.

You look stunning in that dress. Hey, I bought the same sandals from Target in the same color!
I am always torn about that question. San Diego is my home. I have my best friends here, my husbands, kids, my immediate family so my whole life. But every time I go back to my home country, Turkey, I start crying because just hearing the sounds of Turkish and my culture it all comes back. I love my heritage and culture. So I guess I call it both home. Both places mean so much to me.

I loooooove that dress! So pretty. And it very much screams “Florida!” to me. I’m a country girl at heart, growing up in a small town in California, and will always be a California beach bum, but, I’ve been in Texas for close to ten years now and it feels like home. I love Texas and I can’t imagine ever leaving!

I’m glad you wrote this post. I would love to hear more about why you love Tampa. Being here, I’m not always loving it. I miss Atlanta and the hustle and bustle and life that exists there. Reading your post made me start thinking about the things that I do like about being here…
