Don’t forget about my Budget Savvy Spring Fashion Live Chat tomorrow night at 8 PM EST over at the Frugal Living Community! It’s going to be loads of fun and I’m giving away a prize so good I want to keep it…HAHA! My co-host is the lovely Melissa from Stockpiling Moms. Like Meg and I, she also runs a blog with her bestie and if you love to save money, you’re going to love her blog!
Like everyone else, I’m all too aware of our fragile economy. I’m much more careful with my purchases these days and look to my closet first before I head out to the boutiques or hit up the internet to shop. What I’ve found in the past couple of months, is that I often have a forgotten piece in my wardrobe that can be reworked in a fresh, new way!
Remember these William Rast for Target skinny cargo pants that I posted about a few months ago? Well, I wore them once and then totally forgot about them. Shame on me! They have loads of potential for spring don’t you think?!?
Here is my reworked skinny cargoes look courtesy of a feminine, floral blouse, nude sandals and some killer jewelry. So, tell me lovelies…Do you have a piece in your closet that could use a little freshening up?

Created with Polyvore
Paul Joe printed top {$55}, Unionbay pant {$40}, TopShop peeptoe shoes {$130}, Pippa Small aqua jewelry {$2,400-Ok, so this is more dream than reality…A girl’s allowed to dream right?}, Dorothy Perkins chain jewelry {4.25 GBP}

Whoa, those cargo pants are fierce! And I love that breezy blue top!

Love this look! Sadly I have a lot of pieces in my wardrobe that can use a refresher, but I don’t have enough separates to do that XD So I’m going to have to do some shopping and make myself buy separates :/

This is my favorite way to wear my skinny cargos – dressed up a bit with a silk blouse and nude heels. I feel like I’m totally uncreative when it comes to remixing, but I’m working on it!

You look fierce Kristin!

Hi sweets, you look fab! How much fun is shopping in our own closets! The next time I am anywhere near a Top Shop I will try to get you some turquise fingerbling darling, to go with the big hugs I am sending you! <3

In the past few year, I’ve been working on attaining more “freshening up” pieces so that I can, in fact rework the other pieces!

I always get so excited when I find of piece of clothing I totally forgot about
I did that this weekend with a light weight cardi I had only worn once. It got shoved out of the way during the 30X30.

Such a cute look!

Love it, Kristin! I really need to go through my closet and figure out how to re-vamp some of my items!
The other thing I’ve been doing a lot of lately to save money is buying pre-owned items from ebay (such as my citizens of humanity jeans, which are super expensive otherwise)!

Oh my, that ring is gorgeous. Yes, dream.
I think your fresh spring look hits the spot and the trends, and it’s true, there are so many things in our closet we like to forget are there in the pursuit of shiny, new things we can’t afford.
[Reply]
Yeah! Super cute cargos and I love the idea to pair them with a floaty top!
[Reply]
Those pants look like they fit great! They’re really cute. And that blue top is perfect for spring.

Love those cargos on you…they look SO expensive. I have seen the William Rast for Target jeans..but the cargos must have never made it to my local target…I would have TOTALLY scooped those bad boys up…I have total cargo envy..
I am envisioning soft ivory shirt with leopard pumps….outfit perfection!

Fantastic, I love the way you styled them. I need to do this more too and be careful of my spending because it is a little out of control at the moment. I think I have a really good wardrobe but I don’t use it to the full potential.
[Reply]
love it with the heels! i recently took a pair of wide-leg capris (gasp!) to the tailors to be skinny-fied. now they are rockin’.
[Reply]
love the blue of that top! So pretty.
[Reply]
They are cute–and will look lovely with a feminine top like that for spring! I do need to check my closet out sometime…I only wear about 20% of it!
[Reply]
i never did get a pair of those…
i’m in a cleaning phase, so a lot of things i haven’t worn are going to buffalo exchange. another great way to freshen up your closet – trade!
[Reply]

Love shopping in my closet! Finding new uses for old things always gives me a thrill
[Reply]
I totally need to do this in my closet! It’s far too easy to keep buying and not think about what you already own.
Hope your week is off to a fab start, girls!
[Reply]
I love everything about the outfit you created with those pants. They are going to be so hot for spring!
[Reply]
I love the look!!

I am definitely guilty of forgetting items shortly after I buy them or wear them once. I love what you did with the skinny cargos once you were re-united with them!
Sorry you’re having trouble commenting on my blog, Kristen. I’ve heard it happen to a couple of other bloggers from time to time, but it seems to correct itself. I have no idea why this happens….I’m certainly not very technical. I hope you are able to again though. I really love hearing from you!

You’ve inspired me! I’m totally THAT woman who goes to the boutique, buys something and then goes home and finds the same piece a few weeks later. I really should rework certain items in my closet and make different looks for spring.
I love what you’ve done with the cargo pants! Great outfit.
I think I’m going to have to do the same with my Blank cargos and the loads of white blouses I own.

Such a great remix – I love the idea of making cargo pants more feminine with a blouse/accessories. I’ve been really frugal lately with my wardrobe, this is motivating me to explore what I already have to create a new outfit, for sure
[Reply]
Oh, I love that combo. If I didn’t own nude heels already I would totally go for those peep toe ones. Love the style.
I like your combo as well. Very sexy.
[Reply]
i do remember those great cargo pants. you should definitely keep wearing them.
wish i still lived in florida so i could listen to your live chat. now i’ll be at work at that time!
