Fall Fashion Trend: Tweed

Monday, September 6, 2010

Before we get started, I wanted to tell ya’ll about the Iphone App I just developed called Fashion Week Follow. Get all the latest Mercedes Benz Fashion Week news delivered right to your phone! And the best part is…It’s FREE! You would be doing me a huge favor if you downloaded it! Merci beaucoup!

So, the majority of you lovely readers are probably out there enjoying your three day weekend, but in case you’ve still decided to check out the blogosphere a bit, I thought I would give you a little fall fashion action, since we’ve officially welcomed my favorite season! I know some of you are loathe to give up summer, but just think about the gorgeous clothes and tasty treats that are more befitting of autumn. I, for one, am drooling over both!

A texture that doesn’t really work in the warm weather months is tweed. And a tweed piece that I’m jonesin’ for this year is the tweed jacket. It’s equally at home worn over a sheath dress or a t shirt. It’s one of those pieces you can style a million ways. Dressed up or dressed down, it’s a fall fashion must that is sorely lacking from my wardrobe! The options are endless as far as accessorizing a tweed jacket as well. I can see one  being worn with layered pearls for a classic look or layered chains if you’re looking to evoke an edgier vibe! Or you could combine the two and go for this Blue Bijoux beauty that I found at Max & Chloe.

As far as makeup goes…I’m thinking Wendy B style red lips would be smashing with this look! Hey makeup junkies, I would love to hear  about your favorite red pout hues. I’m looking for something a little deeper than the Revlon Really Red (thanks Maria) that I’ve been rockin’ the last year.

What do you think lovelies? Is timeless tweed going to be gracing your bod this season?

Color me jealous of those of that have a real iconic Chanel jacket! And while we’re on the subject of fall fashion…NYFW is almost here! What are ya’ll looking forward to seeing from this year’s spring collections? Over at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week site you can read a listing of one word descriptions of the collections from the designers themselves courtesy of New York Magazine. Vivienne Tam’s “Globalization” has me most intrigued!

p.s. A fellow blogger’s sweet daddy could use our help. He has courageously been battling cancer which, as I’m sure you can imagine, is financially draining. Summer from B is for Brown is asking for cards and a dollar to be sent to her father as he is unable to work right now due to radiation treatments. Did I mention that she’ll be doing community service for every dollar that is sent? Yeah…that’s how amazing she is! I think we can all spare a buck can’t we? One of my favorite things about blogging is the community we’re a part of. I just know that our community is going to rally behind this beautiful gal to do whatever we can to help her beloved daddy!

When you first mentioned tweed, it seemed too hot to even think about it, but the outfit in that first picture is really cute. Your blog is always inspirational!

LOVE that Free People jacket and Max and Chloe necklace — gorgeous! And how fantastic of you to do a little PSA for Summer — what an amazing cause. I believe I have some cards to buy.

I love tweed! But sadly, a tweed jacket is missing from my wardrobe as well. I will have to fix that:)

I just downloaded your app and will check it out after I comment! I love tweed jackets on other ladies but feel like I would look dowdy in them so I’m not sure I’ll be attempting the look. That necklace is to die for!

Hope you’re having a lovely holiday! xoxo

There is nothing more ladylike than a great Chanel looking tweed jacket. Bring on Fall so I can sport one (my knock-offs)!

Also, will be supporting a send a dollar for Dad. After I wipe my tear from my eye…

Love tweed! Love the TB jacket you posted. My fave reds for lips are lipstain spf 15 lipstick in starlet red by Vincent Longo, & lip color in burnt red by Bobbi Brown.

So Chanel! I love the look of tweed with an otherwise rocker ensemble. It’s very unexpected.

So kind of you to help with that blogger’s fundraiser. <3

A great group of jackets as usual – I love the colors in the first one that you posted.

I recently got a tweed jacket at a sale this summer and can’t wait to break it out- one of the upsides of having such brief summer weather this year.

Stunning choices! I’m so excited about fall fashion and fashion week! Wish I had an iPhone to try out that app. I feel like I’m definitely missing something without a proper techy phone.

Oh, and ironically I have a rather old shade of red lipstick – the one Penelope Cruz designed for…Revlon, I think it was, years ago? I’m sure it’s long discontinued but it’s one of my fave reds. Super bright and totally playing on the 50s style. Anyway, mine is of course running out and I’ve been so sad wondering how I’m going to replace it. I think it’s time for some red lipstick hunting! I’ll keep my eyes out for some deeper shades as well. :)

So kind of you to spread the word about Summer’s dad! xo

While I will be wearing tweed, I do not think my tweed jacket will be Chanel-esque. I actually am not a fan of this jacket. (I know, GASP!)
