The Low Down on Ladylike Loafers

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Don’t forget to enter our Corral cowboy boots giveaway!

I think we can all agree that there has been a transition from cutesy clothing to more ladylike wear this season…and what is more ladylike than a sophisticated loafer heel? Vogue has a most tasty mention of them in their September issue!  As far as styling goes,  I’m thinking that heeled loafers would look awfully killer with a classic sheath dress, pencil skirt or trousers. I would love to hear what you think about this “trend” lovelies!

If I still worked in a traditional office setting, you can bet I would be rockin’ the heck outta this look. I still might. The dude, my toddler for those of you who aren’t familiar,  is my real boss now, but I bet he’d like to see mama all dolled up. HA!

This sheath would be a fantastic  partner for the pretties above. Here in Florida, we’re still experiencing wicked hot temps, but as soon as it does cool down, a cardy would finish this look to perfection!

I’ve got a pair of Tods — heels, tassels — from more than five years ago. Keep meaning to give them to the thrift store because they just don’t look right on me! You’re not a 6.5 by any chance, are you?

Ahhhhhhh, if only. I’m a 7/7.5. Boo. Somebody is going to be very happy when they go to the thrift!

I love my Cole Haan loafer heels… I picked them up before they were a “trencd” just because they made me feel a little professor-ish and who doesn’t occasionally want to feel smarter than they are? :-)

I swear I had that exact pair of Nine West loafers in 1998 when I started working … hmm, does that make me old or ahead of the curve? Unclear.

i have an unhealthy love affair with non-heeled loafers! especially since i live in a country with cobbled stones and uneven pavements….loafers have saved me from many unexpected falls that have plagued my friends who trot around in heels! hehe

Obsessed with the RL ones. They come in black too, but def not as stellar. An FYI to anyone splurging, they run REALLY small. I know both colorways are available on RL.com too if Saks is all sold out.

I wish I had kept the pairs I had when this was in fashion back in college. I do have a coach pair that I might break out this season. Since like you I do not have an office to justify a polished look I was thinking of styling them with ankle socks underneath an old fashioned looking a-line skirt.

Sherin Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 2:53 am

I’musually not a fan of loafer heels, but I quite like these ones. The black pair are my favourite.

Gah, those Prada ones are making my day! I love this trend. Anyone remember back in the day around the time Tom Ford took the world by storm at Gucci, there was a Gucci ad with shoes like these? I’m probably the only one who does and I have that ad somewhere in my crazy inspiration books. Perfection!

This trend is going to be a tough one for me. Sort of brings back some horrible corporate days memories that I would really rather forget. Loafers and kahkis and Ann Taylor suits. Never again!!

Josie Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Love those Ralph Lauren ones! Too cute. And what a perfect color. Genius with well-cut trousers or a floaty floral dress.

I definitely want some loafer-heels for fall! Those Prada ones are certainly lustworthy, but I’m after a pair of Kors I saw the other day.

Kari Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Hmm, I haven’t managed to get into the loafer trend yet, but the heels look great! I can totally imagine them with a classy sheath dress. There you go, putting ideas into my head again…

I’m kicking myself for binning a great pair of chunky high-heeled loafers I had about 12 years ago that were just like all the loafers coming out now! Boo! Now you’ve got me wanting more.
