Happy Monday! Fingers crossed you all had lovely weekends! I hope I’m not jinxing myself here, but I think I might just be on the mend. Boy do summer colds stink. Although, it was a bit of a bummer spending the weekend in bed, I was able to spend quite a bit of time catching up on my blog and glossy reading! There’s a silver lining in everything if you look hard enough right?
I haven’t written about today’s subject yet, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been obsessing over how I’m going to incorporate it into my wardrobe. HA! Military chic has been front and center for a while as it graced many of the Fall 2010 runways and it looks like there is still steam left in this trend! It was in practically every fashion rag I picked up this weekend. I’ve personally been lovin’ it ever since I saw Rachel Bilson step out in a Gap boys’ military jacket several months ago. She’s been seen all over the place in that bad boy and I can see why. It’s precious. Oh, to be that cute and teeny tiny. Le sigh.
We might not all be able to shop in the kids department, but there are plenty of military inspired pieces that are available to us! So, tell me lovelies…Will you be workin’ this trend? And may I suggest that you pair it with sequins if you do? Can’t you just see a military jacket and sequin skirt combo? Even if you aren’t ready to go all out with a sequin bedecked bod, pick something feminine and pair it with your military find. The contrast will be killer. I promise! This super sweet headband from Etsy shop angie may would be a fabulous place to start!
I’m thinkin’ that a military glam inspired Champagne Saturday might be headed your way soon! In the meantime, check out my military chic lust list!

Is it just me or is this an 80′s flashback? The camo pants were big when I was in high school. I guess everything that goes around comes around.

I *love* when the “military trend” is in. I don’t think I’ll ever be bold enough to do military+sequins, but I have seen a spread or two recently that makes the combo super-appealing. Maybe if I were five years younger…
I do always love to mix the military pieces w/ really feminine, floral, flowy pieces…as well as classic preppy basics, if I’m feeling less than inspired to be creative. But I am pretty careful to keep the *really* military-feeling pieces to one-per-outfit…only one army green piece, or one camo, or one studded piece, at a time. & I prefer my camo pieces paired w/ brighter colors, or w/ some fun feminine detailing on them.
Have a great week!

I was thinking “I don’t like military chic” and then I saw the Joe Jeans… Hem. I am wearing a fuller-cut legged version of the same. They’re OLD. I told myself the last time I wore them to work (CASUAL doesn’t even define how relaxed we are here at inlaw land) that they’re missing TWO buttons, looking old and need to be retired.
Maybe instead, I’ll have all the buttons replaced and wear them into the fall…

I bought my military jacket last month at H&M and I cannot wait to wear it! It’s very cinched in at the waist and the most flattering jacket I own.

I really like this look. Especially paired with unexpected feminine details like the sequins. Or even a silk floral scarf as a belt.

Military Chic is hard for me to pull off…mostly because I look like the last person who could be in the military.
