Sex and The City 2, All About The New Pad!

Thursday, June 10, 2010

We have a fabulous hapari swimsuit giveaway going on right now, enter here!

SATC 2 was of course all about the fashion (and I hope I’m not spoiling too much for anyone left out there who hasn’t seen it but shouldn’t there be a two week rule or something?) but in addition to fab shoes and great poufy skirts, the movie really played with the idea of Carrie decorating her new digs as someone all grown-up. It was clear in the movie that Carrie had carefully selected each item (ok except for that TV) and had spent a great deal of time and lets face it, dough, doing so. The end result of course was simply marvelous. A look that was sophisticated, contemporary and gorgeous!

Sex And They City 2 Carrie's Living Room

Carrie's Living Room

Some little lessons I jotted down in my notebook from the living room are that a classic gray paint lets the rest of the room do the work.  The gray paint lets that  fab couch and bright painting speak volumes yet still leaves the room feeling like a place you could relax. I’ve been dying to paint a room gray and this might have just given me the boost I needed to get the job done.  Also, if you’re handy, or know someone who is, trimming out doorways with white molding makes a world of difference!

Sex and The City 2 Dining Room

Carrie's Dining Room

While I loved that living room, for me the real masterpiece was the dining room and a few stolen glances into that kitchen! I felt like in this room Carrie’s personality came through a little more. The dramatic lighting fixture over the table is super chic yet whimsical.  The built-ins with bright baubles and stacked books create an eating area that feels cozy and intimate.  And that rounded table mean that its even easier to cozy up for those romantic dinners with Mr. Big!

sexandthecityCarie'scloset

Carie's Closet

So the new married Carrie is clearly all grown-up so I was uber happy that they took us back to her ol’ swinging bachlorette pad! Sure, she now has a sleek closet in that drool worthy condo with Big, but for me her old closet is still amazing ( I would kill for that much of my own girly space!).  There are several things that anyone can do if they have a walk-in closet to get this look and it truly would be affordable and make it your own private happy place.  First look at that cheerful rug, why not get the same bright look from Ikea or Target and smile with every step in?  Next the painted walls and shelving make the closet less sterile than white walls and shelves that come in every other normal closet.  And last, those dramatic lights.  They may not be move set bright but Home Goods always has great shades that would add a dramatic flair! This closet make-over will definitely be on my list and is a lot more doable than tackling a huge giant room! Anyone else want to go see the movie again not for the story line, but purely to feat their eyes on the rooms and all those clothes, ha?!

PS – We hope you are stretching out and getting comfortable with our new site and look. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions on how we can improve, what you love or don’t at all like. Don’t hold back, we really wanna know!

I’m swooning over that dining room light! And I also love that there is a (can?) light that spotlights that beautiful piece of artwork in her living room! What a FUN, cozy and beautiful home!

That new condo was amazing. Love the gray color and blue couch so much. I still love her old place… I wish i could take my hallway and make a closet out of it, but it would be a little awkward when people came over to visit!

I was completely obsessed with the design of their apt. everything was so lush! And I loved their blue couch…we have a similar couch in our apt except it’s more deep purple than blue – the color is called “grappa” apparently. I love that it’s so rich and chic but also welcoming and comfortable. I can guarantee that mine didn’t cost as much as theirs but it’s lovely and it works.

I didn’t really love the movie. What I was most fascinated about was the clothes and jewelry and the design of the apt and the other sets. How divine was that hotel. the colors! I was dying. Of course I’ll see it again when it’s out on dvd but not bc the story was so fabulous. I’m a huge SATC fan but the movies disappointed me. Still, I’m loyal:)

I love the new site but like I said in my last comment it’s not as convenient because I have to re enter all my info every time I want to leave a comment. You guys are totally worth the extra effort though. It’s just the combo of my browser and wordpress I think.

I haven’t seen satc 2 yet, but I’ve been experimenting with gray tones around our house. I really love it–it’s like gray is the new beige or something. It works with everything.

Welcome to wordpress, ladies! Love the new site! Who did the design?

OMG, I love Carrie and Big’s new living room! It just affirms how much alike Carrie and I are because I would love to redecorate my living room like that! Now I can’t wait to check out the rest of their condo when I see the movie tomorrow night (No, I haven’t seen it yet, but thankfully you didn’t spoil anything for me)!

And I will forever keep Carrie’s original closet on my wish list. Someday I’ll have a closet like that. Is it just me, or does her new “Big-Built” closet just not even compare? I don’t like the white. It seems like it’s a lot more Big/Natasha than Carrie.
